Our Knives II
Perfection in Form and Function
In part two of our knife guide, we introduce you to the Escort Drei-Finger, the Artis Vollintegral, and the Silva Allround.
Escort Drei-Finger
A type of knife held with three fingers around the handle and the thumb upon the spine. With its compact size, it can go wherever you go, be it in your bag,
on your belt, or inside your garment pocket. The possibilities are nigh endless when crafting the handle; a wider variety of materials can be used that would
otherwise be too small on a larger knife. Featuring elegantly tapered lines, you are bound to impress rather than scare people with it.
Artis Vollintegral
Named Knife of the Year 2015 (category: fixed-blade knives) in a readers’ poll conducted by German knife enthusiasts’ magazine Messermagazin, this premium
full integral piece improves upon the classic integral design. The tang has been extended to two ridges of the same piece, thus locking the handle securely in place while allowing for anti-slip grooves on both sides.
The most difficult part of making an integral knife is attaching the handle, due to the fact that it must be worked to fit hardened steel. Far greater effort is required to produce seamless joints and a smooth finish—effort that is easily warranted by the aesthetic and practical value of the resultant product.
Silva Allround
The materials used in this unassuming yet exquisite knife speak for themselves. Featuring clean lines and balanced proportions, the Silva Allround is sure to be a
dispensable companion both in everyday life and on adventures. Its smooth and ergonomically designed handle makes it a pleasure to wield, and its lightweight
construction makes it easy to carry.
