"Rosewood" is a misleading appellation. Although Berchemie Zeyheri belongs to the family of Rosacea - more precise to Rhamnaceae (Buckthorn) - it differs from the real rosewood. This heavy wood is also manufactured under the label "Pink Ivory" because of its resemblance to ivory concerning its density and hardness (this wood has a density of 1000g/dm³). In it's habitat (Southeastern Africa in Zimbabwe, Mosambique and South-Africa) it is used as timber, but with the Zulu tribe it is also known as "Royal Wood".
